HP Acquires Fortify
Palo Alto, Calif.-based HP has acquired San Mateo, Calif.-based Fortify Software, a provider of security software. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The companies have worked together in the past on security analysis technology, most recently launching in February Hybrid 2.0. HP hopes to accelerate development of this technology to help clients can easily build scalable enterprise application security programs, the company says. The platform will help reduce business risk, meet compliance regulations and protect against malicious application attacks by integrating security assurance across the application life cycle, it adds.
HP will run Fortify initially as a standalone entity, but itwill be integrated over time into the HP Software and Solutions business. Fortify’s products will become part of the Business Technology Optimization application portfolio, available through HP’s sales and service channels, according to a release.
HP is currently searching for a new CEO after the resignation of Mark Hurd earlier this month.
