Last Thursday, it was announced that Humana, a Louisville, Ken.-based health insurer, will partner with Cleveland-based online technology group FormFire to deploy a paperless quoting and enrollment process in the next two months.
According to the vendor, the project is the first in a series of initiatives that Humana has planned with FormFire to digitally connect its quoting, underwriting and enrollment systems to employers with less than 100 employees throughout Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
"The process of obtaining insurance quotes and enrolling in health plans is incredibly tedious, particularly for small employers and their insurance brokers," Humana's small business practice leader, Mike Brooks, said in a press release. "The FormFire process will revolutionize quoting and enrollment, and help make real one of Humana's primary goals: simplifying this insanely complex industry and reducing the burden on employers and brokers."
FormFire says that its digital system allows employee health information to be collected and stored online with full HIPAA compliance. That information can be presented as required to any insurance carrier, in formats and workflow systems that interface with a carrier's internal process systems. Under the system, the employees of Humana's group customers will receive a protected online account, which stores their information and can be updated or transferred to a new employer.
