Translating information from an ACORD form into a DB2 database used to require writing JAVA code to handle the translation, explains Bruce Wallman, IBM Software Group. With IBM WebSphere Transformation Extender, insurers can take data in an ACORD XML format and flow it directly into a DB2 database table, decreasing development time, but reducing ongoing maintenance. IBM’s packaged components use standard ACORD formats that enable insurers to build applications faster and keep them running more easily. DB2 databases with pure XML query capabilities allows insurers to then write queries, view data flow, and supply backend applications with ACORD data.
