Koushik's most prized achievement was to be designated an IBM Distinguished Engineer in 1998 and elected to the IBM Academy of Technology in 1999, honors that are bestowed on a select few-just 250-of IBM's 150,000 technical professionals. "It was recognition of my accomplishments to date, coming from people I admired-I was extremely proud."

Background: Before arriving at Nationwide, Koushik worked at IBM (Armonk, NY) for 10 years, culminating in the position of CTO for the Business Innovation Services unit of IBM Global Services. He holds a BS in physics from the University of Madras, an MS in computer science from the University of Bombay, and an MBA from Ohio State University.
Interests: Koushik loves movies and sports. Once a fast bowler during his university days as a cricket player, he now plays tennis "mostly because my daughter needs a hitting partner." He also shares an interest in electronics with his daughter. "My family comes first," he says. "Everything else is secondary."
