LOMA and LIMRA Face Future Together
Expansion of technology-related offerings is one of the results members will enjoy from the proposed union of Atlanta-based LOMA and Windsor, Conn.-based LIMRA, according to LOMA spokesperson Jeff Hasty. The two organizations' boards have approved the merger, and assuming a thumbs-up vote from the organizations' membership (which Hasty characterizes as very likely), the effort to integrate the two associations will begin Jan. 1, 2008, under the name LL Global, headquartered in Windsor, Conn.
The complementary characters of the organizations will result in synergies that its members will enjoy in future meetings, according to Hasty. "Our conferences are more technology-focused, and LIMRA's are more about how to do marketing and distribution," he says. "There's not a great deal of overlap."
The merger also will likely result in enhancing the combined organization's participation in the annual ACORD LOMA Insurance Systems Forum, Hasty suggests. "It will just expand it," he comments. "We'll bring more attendees from the distribution side and more content."
