MassMutual Appoints New Head of Underwriting Ops

MassMutual has named David Acselrod VP of underwriting operations. The job includes oversight of the day-to-day operations of the company’s Life and Disability Income Underwriting and New Business departments, as well as responsibility for continuous underwriting process improvement practices and compliance.

Acselrod last was VP and small market leader for group insurance at MetLife, where he worked for 16 years. He has also worked at Travelers, Chase, and Booz Allen Hamilton.

“We are excited about David joining our leadership team due to his strategic vision and commitment to growing our business while maintaining a keen focus on our policyholders,” said Roger Putnam, SVP and COO of MassMutual's U.S. insurance business and Acselrod's direct report, in a statement. “His experience across a number of disciplines within the life and individual disability insurance businesses will further strengthen our underwriting operations.”
