LandAmerica (Richmond, Va.) promoted David Walsh to senior vice president, general auditor. Walsh was previously audit manager of corporate operations and IT.

NYL APPOINTMENTS

New York Life Insurance (New York) named Lily Ku manager for the Chinese marketing unit within its agency department. Ku was formerly a partner in New York Life's Long Island general office. The carrier also named Michael D. Burson first vice president responsible for the recruiting and retention unit in the agency.

COLONIAL PRESIDENT

William B. Hampton has been appointed president of Colonial Savings' (Fort Worth) affiliate insurance companies, Colonial Life Insurance of Texas, Colonial Lloyds and Colonial Mortgage Insurance. Hampton joined Colonial in 1997 as general manager and treasurer of the Colonial insurance companies.

HARTFORD NAMES KALEN

Michael Kalen, a senior vice president of Hartford Financial (Hartford) subsidiary Hartford Life Inc., has been named head of Hartford Life's individual life division.
