New Chief Underwriter for AIG Global Consumer

Kim Garland had headed up the company's United Guaranty subsidiary.

New York-based American International Group has named Kim Garland Chief Underwriting Officer for Global Consumer Insurance, transferring from his position as president and CEO of United Guaranty Corporation, an AIG subsidiary.

Garland will be responsible for the consumer book of business underwriting results globally, establishing the risk appetite and profile for the business, and work with the business lines and regions to establish and drive the strategy for each product line. Before United Guaranty, he worked at Safeco and GEICO.

Succeeding Garland as head of United Guaranty is Donna DeMaio, who is named president and CEO. She had been the subsidiary's COO.
