New York Life has named Sue Ericksen CIO. Reporting to EVP and chief administrative officer Frank Boccio, Ericksen will lead more than 1,000 technology staff, setting the strategic technology direction as the leader of the company’s corporate information department.
Ericksen joined New York Life in 2009 as SVP and CTO, overseeing the enterprise architecture and engineering division of the information department. She replaces Eileen Slevin, who retired this month after 34 years of service, and had been CIO since 2007. Slevin was named one of Insurance & Technology's Elite 8 in 2009.
“While Sue is extremely tech savvy she also has a keen knowledge and understanding of business strategy and the practical application of new technologies in support of our businesses,” Boccio said in a statement. “This combination will help New York Life use technology as a key market differentiator, bringing our agents and employees the tools needed to keep our company at the forefront of our industry.”
