NFU Mutual Chooses Guidewire for Billing

Web-based Guidewire BillingCenter will replace multiple, disparate systems, reduce manual processes and improve service capabilities, according to the vendor.

The National Farmers Union Mutual has selected Guidewire BillingCenter as it's new billing system. The Stratford-Upon-Avon, U.K.-based insurer will use the solution to streamline premium billing and collection processes currently operated by its agents, according to a Guidewire source.

BillingCenter will be used across all of NFU Mutual's lines of property and casualty (general) commercial and personal business, according to San Mateo, Calif.-based Guidewire. The company's customers are served by a network of over 300 agents who handle the collections function, supported by the rural insurer's home office. These agents will have direct access into BillingCenter, streamlining the payment collection process, reducing manual activities, and significantly simplifying premium reconciliation.

According to the Guidewire source, benefits brought to NFU Mutual by BillingCenter include real-time visibility into the carrier's billing transactions and operations; reduced costs associated with maintaining multiple systems; reduction of tedious manual processes performed by agents; broadened service capabilities benefiting customers and agents; and a flexible technology platform that can be adapted for current and future business needs.

"BillingCenter provides all the functionality we were looking for - and more - in a modern billing system," says Nigel Bryan, group finance manager, NFU Mutual. "Streamlining the premium collection process is an integral part of our strategy to create a responsive and efficient insurance business.
