OEFI Picks HealthEdge for Benefits Administration
Operating Engineers Funds Inc. (OEFI; Pasadena, Calif.) has chosen the HealthRules software from Burlington, Mass.-based HealthEdge to administer the health benefits for its client base, which includes members of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 12, and its dependents and beneficiaries.
With an in-house, legacy system that had been extensively modified, OEFI needed a platform that could quickly and easily address the complexity of its existing plans and contracts, while at the same time enabling it to offer new products, the companies said in a release.
"After struggling for years with an outdated claims processing system, our trustees were looking for a proven, next-generation healthcare technology platform that would serve us well both now and into the future," OEFI fund manager Mike Graydon says in a statement. "We did not want to face yet another major system overhaul in a few years when the next set of healthcare standards are adopted. Our use of the HealthRules platform will enable us to enter into more sophisticated agreements with our insurance carriers."
San Francisco-based health insurer SeeChange Health implemented HealthRules earlier this year.
