Plymouth Rock Adds Quote Comparison to Online Sales Portal

The addition allows an independent agent to reach out to a prospect who uses the Plymouth Rock quote portal with multiple carriers' rates.

Boston-based Plymouth Rock Assurance has added a feature to its online quoting portal that allows prospects to compare its prices or rates with other top insurance providers.

The company says its portal differs from other online quote comparison tools because customers will only receive follow-up communication from a single independent agent — not many.

"We have always viewed the incorporation of technology as a supplement to the personal touch, not a replacement for it, and these new advancements to our online portal will allow us to meet customer demands by operating with the technical functionality of a large national brand, while still providing the personal attention of a local company," said Keith Jensen, Plymouth Rock CMO, in a statement. "Maintaining our unique hybrid business model of teaming up with independent agents to provide expertise and flexibility, while still providing the online purchasing tools that consumers demand, continues to be a cornerstone of our organization and the further development of our technology is a testament to that."

Independent gents are also permitted to use the lead generated to contact prospects with non-Plymouth Rock policies.

"We love the agent quote marketplace for a couple reasons," said Geoff Gordon, president of Andrew G. Gordon Inc. Insurance in Norwell, Mass., in a statement. "It lets prospective customers control the insurance buying process completely: we get involved only when they are interested in what they want, when they want it. There are so many options out there, a little guidance at the right time really helps consumers make better decisions. For us, we're talking to folks who are truly interested in considering their options and are in the buying process. This saves us all time. It's technology powering a real life win-win."
