ILOG/DWL Partnership Targets Data Consolidation
ILOG (Mountain View, CA) and DWL (Atlanta) have entered into a new partnership in response to insurers' needs for customer data consolidation across multiple lines of business. ILOG Jrules business rule management software will be used to manage customer data records for DWL Customer, an enterprise customer administration hub for the financial services industry, reports Bob Cooper, general manager, Industry Solutions Division. This capability is intended to help insurance companies as they launch new products and services, integrate new distribution channels and continue to implement their CRM strategies, says Cooper.
"DWL Customer uses ILOG's Jrules to mark critical data for each line of business. When a change is made to the critical data DWL Customer will publish a notification that the data has changed," explains David Corrigan, senior product marketing manager, DWL. "For example, that notification could be sent to the underwriting department for it to investigate and the policy could be underwritten again, insuring that the life insurance policy premiums with the amended data are correct."
DWL, says Corrigan, selected ILOG as a potential partner based on its position as a leader in the rules engine market within financial services. Also, "ILOG's rules engine is developed on Java and EJB," says Corrigan. "These complimented DWL's technology platform." According to Cooper, ILOG entered into the partnership because "DWL needed a scalable, robust business rule engine with XML-centric features to enhance DWL Customer's data validation feature."
