PITTSBURGH--B2B solutions provider SEEC (Pittsburgh) has released Axcess for Insurance, an agent self-service solution allowing a carrier's agent to quote, underwrite and issue policies in real time over the Web. Axcess for Insurance includes agent productivity tools, customizable application components for Web-based quoting, underwriting and issuance in specific lines of business, plus integration components that access current agency and carrier systems and third-party databases using ACORD XML and other industry standards. The solution is built on existing SEEC technologies currently in use at insurance companies, the vendor says.

The new version includes Graphical Medical Search, which provides adjusters with a graphical representation of the human body by which injuries, treatments, complications and pre-existing medical information can be captured through pointing and clicking. Other enhancements include Case Reserve, which the vendor says provides both a generated case reserve and a reserve worksheet, and Negotiation History, which provides tools for tracking and strategizing the negotiation process of case settlement.

LUXEMBOURG--SecureWave has released SecureStack for use on Windows NT4/2000 and multiprocessor servers. SecureStack protects Windows NT4/2000 servers from all types of buffer overflow attacks. Buffer overflow attacks result in root access to a system, allowing the attacker full control of the server. SecureStack consists of a kernel mode driver for Windows NT4/2000. The driver ensures that data stored in memory can't be executed by overflowing the stack and is application independent. Because SecureStack is not based on attack signatures, it doesn't require any update in order to protect against future buffer overflows, the vendor says.

The new service delivers a range of time and cost-saving benefits to clients in the form of faster submission and response times, binding quotes from a panel of blue-chip reinsurers, increased transparency and improved management reporting, according to Inreon. The Euro CAT product is a generic pan-European XL treaty product available to clients in 16 European countries, which reinsurance buyers can use free of charge, Inreon says.

ROCHESTER, NY--Kodak is now shipping its i60 Scanner with duplex speed of 50 images per minute. This departmental scanner is built on the same platform as the simplex i50 Scanner, but with upgraded electronics enabling both duplex features capability and higher bitonal speeds, Kodak says. Both models feature bundled ISIS and TWAIN drivers, application software for document management, text recognition and photo management, and a two-year supply of consumables.
