NEW YORK--Accenture released version 2.0 of its Web-based Claim Components software. The system includes several new components designed to reduce claims-handling time, streamline the claims-handling process, reduce payment errors and overpayments, and support multi-language and multi-currency financial transactions. Version 2.0 includes a new claims profiling component using modeling techniques to identify claims with similar attributes and match them to the appropriate profile, Accenture says.

LAKE SUCCESS, NY--Canon USA has combined a compact, user-controlled pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) camera with a network server to create the VB-C10 Network Camera. According to the vendor, the VB-C10 brings new capabilities to transmitting high-quality video over Internet or local area networks for remote observation, site surveillance, security monitoring and event Webcasting. Featuring a 16X optical zoom lens, the VB-C10 delivers up to 30 frames per second, while allowing tuning the system to meet bandwidth requirements.

SAN DIEGO--CompAdvisor 3.5 for automated review and repricing of workers' compensation medical bills incorporates high-speed scanning, optical character recognition (OCR) and electronic bill import. Closely integrated with CompAdvisor 3.5 is HNC Decision Manager for Medical Bills, an intelligent decision engine that controls a substantial portion of the medical bill review process, the vendor says. The two products combined enable the bill review system to intelligently automate transactions, route bills to appropriate specialists and consistently apply rules, according to HNC.

PLEASANTON, CA--PeopleSoft is releasing PeopleSoft CRM for Insurance as part of a launch of four vertical CRM solutions, also including government, energy and high-tech. PeopleSoft for Insurance will deliver functionality to manage all lines of insurance, including P&C, life and health. The solution models insurance policy relationships, providing a comprehensive view of a customer's insurance portfolio, from claim, to billing, to payment, PeopleSoft says. Self-service capabilities give customers online access to product information, policy "quick quotes" and the ability to file claims in real time.

GLASTONBURY, CT--Systems Engineering Group LLC (SEG) introduced EditSolutions, a suite of life and annuity processing components. According to the vendor, all EditSolutions products share the same architecture and design characteristics; they are XML-centric, adhere to the J2EE specification and fully support Web services. The suite currently includes Payouts and PRASE (product rules and scripting engine). Payouts supports all repetitive payment products, fixed and variable, qualified and non-qualified, as well as providing flexibility in benefit options, according to SEG.
