QBE Names Harring U.S. Head of Claims

Dean Harring, a 30-year industry veteran, has been appointed to the newly created position of U.S. head of claims at QBE the Americas, a New York-based division of QBE Insurance Group (Sydney, Australia).

According to a press release, Harring will assume management responsibilities for the overall claims operations of QBE the Americas ($4 billion in premium) and will look to create uniform standards and establish better communication between the carrier's individual claims units. Included among those units will be QBE Reinsurance; QBE Specialty, the carrier's insurance partnership division; and QBE Regional, the company's regional insurance division, which includes General Casualty, Unigard, Farmers Union Insurance and QBE Agri Insurance.

Previously, Harring served as executive vice president, chief claims officer and chief operations officer at GAB Robins North America. In 2005, Harring founded Claim Diagnostics LLC, a property and casualty insurance claims operations consulting firm.
