Relying on a Trusted Partner
A nearly decade-long trusted partnership has motivated Boston-based Safety Insurance to license Austin, Texas-based CSC's Exceed Claims, Billing and Client insurance software, as well as to sign a 10-year agreement with the vendor for application support and managed hosting services, according to Jim Berry, the carrier's vice president of insurance operations. Safety has used CSC's Series II software and services since 1997, Berry notes.
As part of the deal, CSC will host Safety Insurance's Exceed system at the vendor's data center in Blythewood, S.C., where the insurer's CSC Series II implementation also is hosted. In addition, the vendor will manage Safety Insurance's IT infrastructure and security, and provide application maintenance.
Safety Insurance had used Series II for auto policy processing in conjunction with CSC's Agency Link product for an Internet front end, relying on a different vendor (which Berry declines to name) for lines of business other than auto, according to Berry. "We try with our system to create an environment where agents can process their own insurance applications," he says. "We were happy with what CSC is doing on auto, so we wanted to extend that out to other lines of business."
