RLI Moves CIO to Underwriting Post

Carol Denzer, who began her career at the company as a reinsurance accountant, moves back to the business side.

Peoria, Ill.-based RLI Insurance Company has named Carol Denzer VP of underwriting for Contrac Pac. Replacing her at the top of the IT department for the specialty insurance carrier is Murali Natarajan, who is promoted to VP of IT.

Denzer began her career with RLI as a reinsurance accountant 24 years ago, serving as VP and CIO since 2006. After she led the integration of Contractors Bonding and Insurance Company, which RLI acquired this April, the company decided to put her in charge of growing the new line of business it had taken on.

“Carol has been a tremendous asset to RLI for many years,” Michael Stone, RLI Insurance Company President & COO, says in a statement. “Her experience, deep understanding of our business and track record of success in previous roles will help RLI develop growth opportunities within our contractor business.”

Natarajan most recently served as AVP, solutions delivery for RLI, which he joined in 1997.

“Murali has been instrumental in many of the IT initiatives and solutions launched since he joined RLI,” Stone says. “His business acumen in the IT space and understanding of the technology needs of our customers will help him continue to be an effective leader for our IT organization.”
