Safeco, Chubb, MetLife Appoint CIOs

The past few weeks have seen a spate of major insurance technology appointments, with new CIOs starting at Chubb, MetLife and Safeco.

Following the interim appointment of June Drewry, who took on a transitional role in the wake of former CIO Chuck McCaig's retirement, Warren, N.J.-based Chubb has promoted former claims CIO Jim Knight to the top corporate IT role.

At New York-based MetLife, Jeanette Scampas has replaced Steve Sheinheit, who retired, as enterprise CIO. The former executive vice president, global information systems and global operations at Willis, joins MetLife at a time when the carrier is embarking on a joint business/IT architectural transformation.

At Seattle-based Safeco, Robert Ingram will assume the role of executive vice president and chief information officer, and will lead the carrier's IT group as it continues through a transformational effort. The former Accenture consultant, Argonaut Group CIO and USAA (San Antonio) senior vice president of IT replaces a departing Bill Jenks.

"Throughout his career, Bob [Ingram] has consistently demonstrated his IT management expertise in worldwide platform integration and overall process efficiency," said Paula Rosput Reynolds, Safeco president and chief executive officer, in a statement. "His insight will further drive alignment between IT and the business."
