Scampas Out as MetLife CIO
Jeanette Scampas has left the position of enterprise CIO at MetLife (New York). Multiple sources confirm that an internal memo circulated at MetLife on Wednesday said that Scampas had left the company to "pursue other opportunities." Scampas joined the company from Willis Group (New York) in early 2008, with the retirement of Steve Sheinheit.
Scampas' departure came three days before the reorganization of several of the carrier's lines of business under the new rubric of U.S. Business, effective Aug. 1. On Thursday MetLife also announced the departure of its head of global procurement, Roy Anderson, using language similar to that of the Scampas memo, according to a MetLife source.
MetLife is yet to make an announcement as to whether Scampas will be replaced or whether the position will be filled. The carrier has not yet announced who will lead technology for U.S. Business. The insurer's most senior officer with responsibility for technology is Maria Morris, who was named executive vice president, technology and operations in Jan. 2008.
