Thrivent Notifies Members of Breach of Unsecured Personal Information
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans (Minneapolis) has reported that a laptop containing personal information, including name, address, social security number and health information, was stolen from one a Pennsylvania office. While the laptop had a variety of safeguards to protect sensitive information, including strong password protection and encryption, according to Thrivent, the company says that the information may be at risk.
Thrivent has no evidence so far that the information has been accessed or misused, and reports that local police are investigating. The company has notified affected members and offered them one year of free credit monitoring and identity theft assistance services. Thrivent has pledged to work with the members to rectify any issues that arise from the incident.
