Study: Insurers Among Largest Adopters of iOS
The insurance industry is one of the top adopters of iOS for enterprise mobility, when compared to 19 other industries studied by Citrix for its latest Enterprise Mobility Cloud Report, for Q4 2012.
Insurers adopt iOS at about a 95% rate, with other mobility solutions tending to be on Android. Windows Mobile didn't quite rank, according to Citrix. Most of these deployments are on iPhones: insurers ranked sixth out of the top 10 iOS adopters in their use of the iPad.
[What's the state of mobile device management adoption in insurance?]
Despite iOS's popularity — Citrix notes that 58% of enterprise mobile devices nationwide are on the platform — its dominance of the insurance industry isn't the norm. Banking breaks down to about 85% iOS, 10% Android, 5% Windows Mobile, while other financial services companies are at about an 82% iOS level. On the other extreme, the oil and gas industry is dominated by Windows Mobile, to the tune of about 92% of all deployments in that sector.
"iOS was the preferred platform for vertical industries in which mobile users engage customers one-on-one, such as retail and restaurants," Citrix writes in the study.
