Sun Life Partners with Kony on Claims Mobile App

The app lets group benefits, retirement and savings plan members submit benefit claims check plan balances on iPhone or BlackBerry.

Toronto-based Sun Life Financial has released an iPhone and BlackBerry app built by Orlando, Fla.-based mobile development shop Kony Solutions.

My Sun Life allows Canadian group benefits members to:

  • Submit medical and dental claims
  • View previously submitted claims
  • Access drug and travel coverage card information
  • View retirement savings, and
  • Access financial planning tools to assist with ongoing savings efforts

      “Our goal was to create a compelling mobile offering that made it even easier for customers to do business with us and early feedback has been extremely positive,” said Mary De Paoli, SVP and CMO for Sun Life Financial, in a statement.

      De Paoli noted that e-claims had been a Sun Life capability for 10 years before expanding to mobile.

      "We expect this app to contribute to our overall growth in our Group Benefits e-claims which have so far totaled 1.7 million, up 73 percent in the first three quarters of this year over the comparable period in 2010,” adds Alice Thomas, VP, digital, CRM, Contact Center Application Services for Sun Life Financial, in the statement.
