Rye, N.Y. - Mobius Management Systems released ViewDirect TCM for Agent Extranets, a Web-based agent portal solution that connects insurance companies with their independent agents and creates a paperless claims environment. The solution provides agents with the ability to view reports on screen in the same format as the printed version, and the ability to save reports in any format, including spreadsheets for easy analysis, Mobius says.

Book Transfer

New York - SeaPass Solutions introduced SeaPass Book of Business Transfer Service, an electronic service designed to streamline the transfer of a book of business from one carrier to another. The solution automates processing of multiple policies extracted from an existing agency management system or from another carrier's system, and enables agencies and brokers to identify and analyze blocks of policies for transfer, then automatically handle rating and reissuing through the new carrier, according to SeaPass.


Palo Alto, Calif. - HP launched a suite of products and services designed to help financial institutions reduce the cost of implementing and sustaining regulatory compliance systems while improving their risk management capabilities. HP Compliance Suite for Financial Institutions shortens project time lines, reduces ongoing compliance costs and enables exception-based risk management through timely access to information, HP claims.

Mobile Browsing

Cambridge, Mass. - Bitstream enhanced its ThunderHawk 2.1 Pocket PC Edition, which provides enterprise clients and end users with desktop browsing capabilities on mobile devices, to provide full Java support. The wireless Web browser displays full HTML pages while offering desktop-level Java 1.5.0 capabilities, enabling applets to run on mobile devices just as they do on the desktop.

Claims Automation

Westbrook, Maine - The Insurance Automation Group, a Workgroup Company, released a Web-based version of its iAutomate: OPL CaseManager Lite software automation product, which automates the process of other-party liability (OPL) for healthcare insurance plans. The product helps health plans identify, capture and speed the processing of OPL claims, while automating their entire case load. This solution requires no integration services and enables OPL managers to enter new cases via an online interface, the vendor says.

Project Management

Austin, Texas - PlanView launched PlanView Community powered by EMC Documentum eRoom, an enterprise IT management collaboration solution that combines structured processes and best practices for project, portfolio and resource management with flexible, unstructured collaboration. The solution results in faster and more-flexible idea generation and problem solving through the sharing and the reuse of existing knowledge bases, according to the vendors.

Fraud Prevention

San Mateo, Calif. - Siebel Systems unveiled Siebel Insurance 7.8., a fraud prediction solution that provides predictive analytics, real-time claims detection, claims alerting, task execution and management, and insight-driven reporting capabilities. The solution leverages data analysis and pattern recognition to identify new fraud techniques across claims and translate them into fraud scores for individual claims through sophisticated data mining, predictive model building and testing, Siebel says.


White Plains, N.Y. - ASC released a Linux-based VoIP recording solution that features session institution protocol (SIP) switching capability, an industry standard. SIP enables the use of IP telephony switches without proprietary support, allowing the solution to be accessed from any location with the same call setup, handling and forwarding functions. The solution may be used to build converged voice and multimedia services from formerly incompatible components, according to ASC.
