Travelers Names Madelyn Lankton Enterprise CIO, Al Lagana Head of Operations
Travelers (Hartford) has appointed Madelyn Lankton senior vice president and enterprise CIO, and has named Elio "Al" Lagana senior vice president of operations, responsible for enterprise operations, according to an internal statement. The two executives succeed Bill Bloom, who had the responsibilities given to Lankton and Lagana, prior to Bloom's move to outsourcing provider EXL (New York). Lankton and Lagana will report to Brian MacLean, Travelers' president and chief operating officer. Both executives will also become members of Travelers' operating committee.
Lankton joined Travelers in 1982, working primarily within the carrier's life and annuity business, and in 2003, she joined the property casualty business, according to the Travelers statement. Since then, she has served in a variety of IT and Operations positions. Most recently, she served as senior vice president of claim shared services and, in 2009, she added responsibility for IT and Operations for Financial Professional & International Insurance.
Lagana joined Travelers in 1969 and has held various finance and operations management positions, the statement says. For the past 15 years, he has managed several functions including premium audit, billing/collections, receivables management, production application services division, corporate systems, billing systems, document management and business availability.
Bloom was named Travelers' CIO in 2003 and took on responsibility for operations in 2006. He left Travelers for EXL the week ending July 9, 2010, according to sources.
