TriZetto Acquires BPO Company Tela Sourcing

The company cited healthcare reform as a driver in its strategic decision to acquire Tela, which specializes in that industry segment.

Greenwood Village, Colo.-based The TriZetto Group has acquired Baltimore-based Tela Sourcing, which offers healthcare outsourcing capabilities in the U.S. and India.

TriZetto will combine Tela's U.S. and Indian operations with BPO capabilities it has in its Baltimore office, the company says in a release. Brij Sharma, Tela Sourcing’s CEO, will lead TriZetto’s combined BPO operations.

"The combined TriZetto BPO team will now have more than 700 professionals in the U.S. and India, dedicated to delivering business rules configuration, front-end claims administration, enrollment and billing solutions that meet the business and operational needs of health plans and TPA [third-party administrators]," Sharma says in a statement. "Together, we will have a world-class, industrial-grade end-to-end BPO capability that can provide the flexibility, capacity and cost efficiency to meet a wide range of customer needs.” TriZetto also noted the impact of healthcare reform on insurers' outsourcing strategies in delineating its reasons for acquiring Tela.
