Unum Names Genworth Vet Chief Risk Officer
Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Unum has named Steven Zabel SVP and chief risk officer. He replaces Michael Temple, who left for Protective Life last year, in the role.
Zabel will be responsible for the oversight of Unum’s enterprise risk management program. He last was SVP of long term care insurance for Genworth. While there, he also served as CFO for insurance products and senior vice president of audit. Zabel began his career at Ernst & Young.

Zabel reports to Unum CFO Richard McKenney.
“Steve is a highly experienced insurance finance leader with a combination of audit, corporate finance and operating experience, and I’m confident he will not only effectively oversee our risk management strategy but become a vital part of our senior leadership team,” McKenney said in a statement.
