WellPoint Selects FitOrbit Online Coaching

The obesity-fighting program was founded by Jake Steinfeld, known for his "Body By Jake" television show.

Indianapolis-based health insurer Wellpoint has announced a partnership with Los Angeles-based FitOrbit, an online coaching program.

Founded by Jake Steinfeld, known for his “Body by Jake” television show, FitOrbit matches users with online health coaches who provide personalized exercise and meal plans, as well as progress tracking. Consumers also have access to exercise videos, recipes and a listing of program-friendly restaurants by ZIP code.

"As a consumer-focused company, we know that health maintenance and improvement are important to members in our affiliated health plans as well as employers and we continually look for innovative ways to respond to their needs," says Ken Goulet, Wellpoint's EVP of employer, Medicaid, individual and specialty business units. "When members are actively engaged in wellness and care management programs, it helps them to maintain and improve their health and can help them and employers better control their health care costs. We believe FitOrbit enhances our plans’ health and wellness offerings with tools and resources that are convenient and provide value.”
