Zurich Names Steve Gillen Global Head of Marine Claims
Zurich has named Steve Gillen to what the Zurich, Switzerland-based P&C carrier calls the key new role of global head of marine claims. Effective immediately, Gillen will work closely with the carrier's regional marine leadership and claims organization to enhance Zurich's claims proposition in support of the global marine specialty practice, and enhance claims capabilities in support of Zurich's marine business, according to a company source.
Gillen, who will report to Chris Barnes, Zurich's chief claims officer, has more than 25 years of extensive experience in marine claims and risk engineering, most recently serving as senior vice president and president, Chartis Marine Claims Adjusters, Inc. Prior to his time at Chartis, Gillen held numerous senior level positions within the industry. Additionally, he has served as chairman of the Service Committee for the American Institute of Marine Underwriters for the last eight years, and is an adjunct professor with the American Institute of Marine Underwriters. He also holds the designation of U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Master.
