AIG Makes Senior Leadership Changes in Commercial Lines
American International Group has named Michael Smith COO of its commercial insurance business. The company has also named James Shea president of Global Financial Lines and Robert Thomas has been named president of Global Specialty Lines. All three executives will report to John Doyle, CEO of Global Commercial Insurance.
Smith will oversee operations and systems initiatives for Commercial Insurance worldwide. He is also responsible for distribution strategy, marketing strategy and innovation. He last was president of Global Financial Lines.

Shea takes over Smith's former responsibilities. He had been president of Global Specialty Lines, a role filled by Thomas (the former COO of commercial insurance).
"Mike, Jim, and Bob are experienced and highly effective executives, each of whom has experience leading global businesses," Doyle said in a statement. "We have continued to progress towards our vision to become our customers' most valued insurer, and I am confident that these changes will further enable us to do so, bringing new perspective and expertise to our clients and distribution partners worldwide."
