Michael Ridge has been appointed managing director of The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc.'s (Hartford) U.K. branch.
Rudge reports to Marc Lieberman, president and chief executive officer of Hartford Life Limited, The Hartford's European insurer. In his new position, Rudge is responsible for the branch's profit and loss, sales and marketing, and administration.
The Hartford sells investment bonds and personal pensions in the U.K. The products include an optional SafetyNet feature that provides investors with a guaranteed income, no matter how their investments perform.
Rudge joined Hartford Life Limited in 2006 as program director for the firm's pension product launch and was appointed to the role of distribution development director in August 2007. Prior to joining The Hartford, Rudge held positions with Old Mutual, Hazell Carr and Watson Wyatt. He has 25 years experience in financial services and is a qualified actuary.
