Insurance IT can be a promising career path with the potential for salary advancement for those with a combination of solid tech competencies and good business and people skills, according to according to the 649 insurance IT professionals who participated in the 2014 InformationWeek Analytics Salary Survey. Here are five reasons:

1. A career path in IT is relatively secure
Insurance staff and managers who responded to the 2014 InformationWeek Analytics Salary Survey believe that a career path in insurance IT is a safe and secure choice. According to survey results, 41% of IT staff and 38% of IT managers said that a career in IT is more secure than most others. Another 49% of staff and 51% of managers say that this career choice is as secure as most others. A scant 10% of staff and 11% of managers say that a career in insurance IT is less secure than most others.
