Al Bowen Aligns Ohio National Financial Services' Technology and Business Plan
No one ever said achieving business growth would be easy. After spending 2006 setting Ohio National Financial Services' technology infrastructure on the road to modernization -- an achievement that earned him Elite 8 recognition last year -- Senior Vice President of Information Systems Al Bowen continued to work to align the carrier's technology with the organization's aggressive business plan in 2007. "Anticipating where the systems portfolio and the infrastructure might be stressed and insuring that we have solutions in place are more difficult to do -- and are more critical -- in an aggressive growth plan," Bowen points out.
"As we cross certain thresholds it's imperative that we're able to step in, divert resources, and dial up the capability and the capacity," Bowen continues. "This is our primary focus."
Currently, Bowen's information systems organization is retooling a number of core platforms, including compensation, administration and new business systems. "We're very focused on making strategic progress in these areas while supporting the growing day-to-day needs of the company," Bowen notes.
Additionally, Bowen relates, Ohio National is in the midst of repricing its life insurance portfolio, as other firms are doing under the 2001 CSO mortality tables. "There's a lot of work to do there, as you might imagine," he says.
