Easing Connectivity

SeaPass Solutions (New York) developed a connectivity solution for insurance agents and carriers that has been implemented by The Hartford Financial Services Group (Hartford; $18.7 billion in revenue).

SeaPass Solutions (New York) developed a connectivity solution for insurance agents and carriers that has been implemented by The Hartford Financial Services Group (Hartford; $18.7 billion in revenue). The SeaPass Gateway platform links customer data from identified agency management systems to carriers for real-time quoting and issuing using a proprietary data transformation language. The solution uses algorithms for multidimensional data transfer, incorporating connection pooling and connectivity technologies. This allows the solution to recognize data, compare it to receiver system requirements, seek clarification from the sender and complete the data transfer process in real time. The software can be rebranded to look and feel like a carrier's existing Web or interface solution.

"The Hartford's 'Expressway' [which utilizes the SeaPass technology] has enabled our agency to quote and issue in half the time," says John A. DiMatteo, president of Shelton, Conn.-based A.A. DiMatteo Insurance Service Center. "We work in our applied agency management system and are able to seamlessly connect with The Hartford's systems." The bottom line, according to DiMatteo, is less keying with more policies quoted and issued, resulting in more business.
