Cool Sites
Charlie Coon, assistant vice president, information systems, St. Paul Companies, recommends thefollowing sites:
disney.com: While I like cartoon characters as much as the next guy, I use this site as a benchmark of performance for the Internet. Before I do a demo or if I'm at a customer site, I bring up the Disney site and time how long it takes to launch. In an instant I know what kind of performance my customer is going to have using our Web application. It's also an excellent ice breaker.
meansbusiness.com: Bringing value to your customer comes from a generation of ideas on how to be better, faster or cheaper than the next guy. This site provides abstracts of articles and books on a variety of subjects that support the creative effort.
insurancejournal.com: This site provides news and events in the insurance world. Their e-mail daily news provides good coverage that helps me to stay current on trends and competitors.
bartleby.com: Presentations, proposals, evaluations or any important correspondence requires the right words. This site provides good references that go beyond your basic spell-check.
