Jim Court Takes Charge of American Property and Casualty's Operations
The one constant in insurance technology seemingly is change. For Elite 8 2006 honoree Jim Court, the past year certainly has brought significant change. Promoted from his post as chief information officer of First American Property and Casualty, a subsidiary of First American Corp., to chief operating officer in May, Court now is in charge of all of the carrier's operations -- including oversight of the entire IT organization.
According to Court, the switch to COO represents a significant change from his previous CIO position. "I now have an entirely different view of IT," he says. "Where I used to look at it through a microscope, I now look at it through a wide-angle lens. It's been a very challenging year, and a very good one."
Court adds that his main areas of focus for the coming year include continuing development of people and processes within the insurance group -- no doubt with an eye on the rapidly changing business and technology environment.
