New York Life Names Michael Gordon Senior Vice President, Agency-Life Operations

New York Life (New York) has promoted Michael Gordon to senior vice president of the company's newly formed Agency-Life Operations (ALO) organization, created to better align the carrier's life product manufacturing with its career agent distribution. Gordon reports to Paul Pasteris, senior vice president and chief operating officer of U.S. Life Insurance.

Gordon is responsible for overseeing ALO's eight sub-units: Affluent Market, Mass & Retirement Markets, Cultural Markets, Competitive Markets, ALO Actuarial, ALO Systems & Operations, Special Projects, and Advanced Services units, according to a New York life press release. Included in the Affluent Market unit are NYLIFE Securities and Eagle Strategies, the company's broker-dealer and registered investment advisor divisions.

Gordon was previously first vice president responsible for Market Strategies in the Agency Department. Prior to being first vice president, Mr. Gordon held positions of increasing responsibility, including serving as corporate vice president in the Individual Annuity Department; corporate vice president in the Business Resilience Department, where he was New York Life's Corporate Records Manager; and serving as assistant vice president in the Corporate Internet Department, where he managed New York Life's public website. Prior to joining New York Life in 2001, Gordon worked at Kopia, LLC, where he was president and CEO of an Internet professional services company, and he worked for Chase Manhattan Corporation as vice president in charge of Internet Strategy & Development for Chase Insurance Group.
