Selective Names President and COO
Selective Insurance Group's board of directors has elected John Marchioni as president and COO, the company reported today. Gregory Murphy, who remains chairman and CEO, previously held the president title.
Marchioni had served as EVP of insurance operations, with oversight for Selective's property and casualty insurance operations, since December 2008. He joined Selective in 1998. In his new role, he is responsible for actuarial, HR, and IT areas.

"John is a strong leader with a great grasp of our business, close relationships with our agents, and a clear focus on customer experience," Murphy said in a statement.
Selective has made a number of appointments in recent months. Gordon Gaudet, formerly of Deloitte, was named EVP and CIO in May. The company also made promotions in IT security and management, as well as a new chief claims officer and application delivery SVP.
