Sun Life Names Aetna Vet President of U.S. Business Group

Sun Life Financial Inc. has announced the appointment of Dan Fishbein, M.D. as its new president. Fishbein will replace current president Wes Thompson, who will retire from his role on April 1, 2014.

Thompson joined Sun Life in 2008 and led its U.S. division through the successful sale of its annuity business and the restructuring of its group benefits, life insurance and international high net worth segments.

Dr. Fishbein most recently served as the president of Specialty Businesses at Aetna, where he oversaw the group benefits and voluntary divisions as well as the company’s life insurance business. He has 25 years of experience in group life insurance and employee benefits. Fishbein will join Sun Life on March 17 and take over as president on April 1.
