Web Now More of a Focus for Allstate’s Brune

Like many of her peers, Allstate SVP and CIO Catherine Brune's responsibilities get broader every day. "Technology is no longer just an enabler," she relates. "I now spend the majority of my time in the middle of strategic business conversations."

More and more, those conversations are about how to better serve customers. "I'm focused on innovative ways to serve and satisfy our customers through things such as creating different products and making it easier and faster for them to purchase and service policies or make claims -- all while generating efficiencies in running the business of technology," Brune says. Much of the service enhancement is centered on the Web. "We've put a whole new capability in online purchasing for our product suite and are using Allstate.com differently today than even a year ago," Brune reports.

"We've had a real focus on product innovation and are also putting the finishing touches on our total rewrite of our claim systems, allowing us to move calls around and take care of customers better than in the past," Brune adds. "That's when I know technology has made a difference to our customers."
